Kachumar Beet



Kachumar  is a Hindi word that we use for this dish in our family. Beet is grated to make this dish.
Only a couple of ingredients are used but the taste is delicious.

Beetroot.....................................................2 large size,grated
Tomato ......................................................1 large size,grated
Red Chilly Dry............................................2
Cumin Seeds................................................a pinch
Salt.............................................................as per taste
Sugar...........................................................1 tsp
Green Chilly paste........................................1/2 tsp
Refined Oil...................................................2 tbsp

Peel the beetroot and grate them. Also grate the tomato.
Heat oil  in a pan and add the red chilly's and a pinch of cumin. When they splutter, add the grated tomato and fry well till the oil rises and tomato turns reddish.
Then, add the grated beetroot. Saute well. Add green chilly paste, salt  and sugar. Mix well.
Put a lid and cook covered. The dish will be prepared in its own juices. When done, remove to a dish and serve. It is a dry dish.
Serve it with Chapati.
