Matar- Phul Kofir Chechki

All winter , my mashi in law , ma in laws's younger sister Maya Mukherji has to have

"chechki"on her dinner menu. She lives in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand and around this time its

really cold out there. Its usually hot, just out of the wok and so tastes really really good.

aloo-peyaj er chechki, aloo-kumro-bhindir chechki.......The general belief that Bengali 's

eat only fish is all wrong, there is actually a huge treasure of vegetarian dishes that we

 Bengali's can boast of.

Heat the oil in a wok and add a pinch of nigella seeds and slit green chillies. Stir fry a bit and add the cauliflower. Saute.

Then add the peas , spices and fry stirring for five minutes . Cover and let cook in its own juices on low flame .

Stir a bit to mix all ingredients after 5 minutes .

When the vegetables are done remove the lid and mix in the fresh chopped coriander .

Remove to a serving bowl .

This chechki goes very well with luchi , paratha and even plain roti .
