Ingredients :
Tomato 1 large,chopped
Arhar dal 6 tbsp
Turmeric Powder a pinch or two
Salt according to taste
Sugar according to taste
Ghee 1 tbsp
Dry red chilly 1,cut into two pieces
Garlic 2 pods,crushed
Green chilly 4,slit
Method :
In a heavy bottomed utensil put 4 cups of water to boil. When it begins to boil add the lentils and a pinch or two of turmeric. When the dal is soft, add salt to taste, sugar to taste and the chopped tomatoes .With a large spoon keep mashing the tomatoes,so that it mixes well with the soft dal.When it thickens remove from flame.
For the tempering :
In a wok heat ghee.
Add dry red chillies broken into two,and crushed garlic.Saute a bit.
Add the dal to this
Put the slit green chillies and when the dal boils put the flame off and leave on the stove.
After 10 minutes transfer to a serving dish and serve.
