Patience while cooking goes a long way in making your dish a success. One needs to ideate, as much as possible, before actually producing a dish.
500 grams Pomfret Fish
3 tbsp Mustard Oil
2 Dry Red Chilly's
A pinch Nigella Seeds
1 1/2 tsp Coriander Seeds
1 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
2 Whole Dried Chillies
1tbsp Poppy Seeds
1/2 cup Water
1 tsp Raw Mustard Oil (Optional)
4 Green Chillys (slit)
1/2 tsp Sugar
Salt to taste
Method :
Heat the mustard oil to smoking point in a pan (to remove pungent smell), reduce the heat and add the nigella seeds -dried red chillies, fry for 2 minutes.
Grind the coriander seeds, cumin seeds, green chillies, poppy seeds to a fine paste.Now, add the paste. Stir fry on high heat, sprinkling a little water as you fry . When the spices turn golden, add the water and bring to the boil. Add sugar and salt.
Add the fish cut into two(You can cook the fish whole too) , turn down the flame and simmer for 10 minutes or until the fish pieces are done.
Before taking it off the fire add the raw mustard oil (Optional) and a few slit green chillies for taste.
Serve hot with plain boiled/ basmati rice.
