Down South(South Indian Lentil With Spinach)

 South Indian lentil with spinach

Ingredients :


Spinach..........................................................................1/2 cup,finely chopped
Coconut,.........................................................................1/2
Green Chilly....................................................................4
Split Pigeon Peas ( Lentil Tur dal.).....................................3/4 cup(100 grams)
Coriander Powder..........................................................1 tsp
Cumin Powder...............................................................1/4 tsp
Chilly Powder................................................................1/2 tsp
Garlic.............................................................................2 pods
Tomato.........................................................................2,chopped
Salt........................................................................as per taste
Curry Leaves...............................................................10
Mustard Seeds............................................................3/4 tsp
Bengal Gram Dal (Chana Dal)
or split black gram Dal(Urad Dal)............................................1 tsp



Grind coconut, chilly and garlic. Mix chilly powder, cumin powder and coriander powder to the mix and keep aside.

Cook the lentils till soft.

Add chopped spinach 1/2 cup , Tomato chopped and cook.

Add salt and the spioce paste with spices into the cooked dal.

Now for the tempering, heat refined oil in a wok. Add curry leaves, mustard seeds and 1 tsp chana dal. Let them splutter. Add .

When the dal is thick, serve.
